Hale, a 1988 graduate of Cave Spring High School, earned a bachelor's degree in chemistry from Furman University in Greenville, S.C., in 1992.
RYAN OBENCHAIN, son of Mr. and Mrs. William E. Obenchain, was named to Who's Who in High School Sports.
Obenchain is a senior at William Byrd High School and plays basketball.
THE MEDICAL ASSISTING PROGRAM at National Business College has earned accreditation from the American Association of Medical Assistants and the Commission of Accreditation of Allied Health Education programs.
As a result of the accreditation, students in the college's medical assisting program are the only such majors in the state eligible to take the Certified Medical Assistants board exam immediately after graduation. Students who pass are designated CMAs.
CHERYL LILLEY RINGO, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. William D. Lilley of Roanoke, recently earned a bachelor of arts degree in elementary education from Columbia College in Columbia, S.C.
CARSON-NEWMAN COLLEGE has announced the names of Roanoke Valley residents who recently earned degrees during the winter graduation. They are: Matthew Aaron Tennant, son of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Tennant of Roanoke, bachelor of arts in sociology; Robyn Elizabeth Pedigo, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Pedigo of Vinton, bachelor of science degree in management; and Jeffrey Wayne Sink, son of Mr. and Mrs. Wayne Sink of Vinton, bachelor of science degree in management.
ANGELA Y. ALLEN, a senior at Hollins College, has been named a George C. Marshall Undergraduate Scholar for 1994-95. Nineteen students from Virginia colleges are selected by their professors for the honor, which includes having their research papers displayed and becoming a part of a permanent collection at the Marshall Library in Lexington.
Allen, the daughter of Mr. and Mrs. James Allen of Roanoke , is majoring in history at Hollins. She will do research for a paper on American Military Policy in Greece, 1947-49, at the Marshall Library.
JOHN EDWARD McKINNEY of Roanoke has earned a master of divinity degree from Southeastern Baptist Theological Seminary.
He is pastor of Cave Rock Baptist Church in Troutville.
BENJAMIN JOHN LUEDKE, son of Janet L. Ramsey of Roanoke, has earned a bachelor of arts degree with a major in social sciences from Flagler College in St. Augustine, Fla.
LARA DANIELLE MARR of Roanoke and THOMAS RAMEY McDONALD III of Salem recently earned degrees during the fall commencement at East Carolina University.
Marr earned a bachelor of arts degree in psychology, and McDonald earned a bachelor of science degree in communications.
CHRISTOPHER ROBERT TAYLOR, son of Carolyn and Bobby Woolwine of Salem, recently graduated from Radford University with a bachelor of business administration in marketing. He is a graduate of Salem High School.

THE VIRGINIA COMMISSION FOR THE ARTS has selected several Roanoke Valley teachers to received money under its 1994-95 Teacher Incentive Grant Program.
The teachers, among 118 statewide, were recognized for having the best in creative and innovative classroom projects that integrate the arts into the basic curriculum.
Roanoke Valley teachers who received this grant are: Katherine Bowman, Elizabeth M. Bursey, Sheryl P. Vaden, and Jinny Wooddall-Gainey, all from Community School; Rose Ann Burgess from Montery Elementary School; Vivian Gobble from Herman L. Horn Elementary School; and Susan C. Mele from W.E. Cundiff Elementary School.
BRIDGEWATER COLLEGE recently named several Roanoke-area students to the dean's list for the fall term. They were: Michael David Baker, son of John and Dianne Baker of Buchanan; Michelle Rena Brown, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Garland Brown of Roanoke; Dale LeRoy Foster Jr., son of Mr. and Mrs. Dale Foster of Salem; Kelly Rebecca Honeycutt, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. George Honeycutt of Blue Ridge; Marcia Rae Mundy, daughter of Charles and Nancy Mundy of Buchanan; and Christie Leigh Osborne, daughter of Gary and Carol Osborne of Daleville, who finished with a 4.0 grade-point average.
