Street Light Cafe

CHRISTIANSBURG - Straight Street Youth Center, 300 N. Franklin St., is offering the Street Light Cafe, a nightspot for teens, adults and families. The cafe is open Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 11 p.m.

The cafe, which opened New Year's Eve, does not serve alcoholic beverages. Gourmet coffee, homemade pies, pastries and a full menu selection are available.

Bob Anderson, director of the youth center, said the cafe will provide live entertainment and bring in guest speakers most weekends. The cafe also has a large screen TV, a pool table, ping-pong tables, a foosball game and other arcade games.

Anderson said the center's efforts are directed at providing alternatives to drinking or using drugs for young people in the area. In addition to the cafe, the center is also sponsoring "Open Gym Nights" every Saturday at several schools in Montgomery County.
