Devonne Claybrooks scored with 30 seconds to play to give the Bengals (7-4 overall, 7-3 Piedmont) the lead for good. The Cavaliers had three tries in the final 23 seconds, including a long jumper by Nat Law with less than five seconds to play.
Law's jumper bounced high off the rim, Bassett's Chris Hairston grabbed the rebound and fell to the floor as the horn sounded. The officials ruled the game ended before the traveling violation occured.
Hairston scored 17 points for the Bengals, who beat Laurel Park in a four-overtime game Monday, and Claybrooks added 11.
Law scored 23 for Fieldale-Collinsville.

HOT SPRINGS - The Highlanders blew a 10-point lead late in the Pioneer District game, but held on to snap the Chargers' five-game winning streak.
Bath County (7-3, 2-1) trailed 48-38 with 4 minutes, 23 seconds remaining. Jon Rodgers, who scored 12 points and grabbed eight rebounds, hit a 3-pointer to to start the Chargers' comeback. Kris Phillips then hit two free throws and a 3-pointer around a couple of Glenvar misses to pull Bath County to 48-46.
Jason Darnall then hit a shot to give the Highlanders (7-2, 2-0) a four-point lead. Rodgers hit two free throws, and after Glenvar missed a free throw, Rodgers hit a 3-pointer to cut the lead to 52-51 with 1:16 left.
After both teams missed shots, the Chargers missed three shots underneath the basket with nine seconds left and Glenvar prevailed despite missing a free throw in the last few seconds. Todd Townsend's 3-pointer at the buzzer for Bath County just missed.
Corey Willis and Darnall scored 16 points each for the Highlanders.
The Chargers, who shot 29 percent for the game, played without their leading scorer, Patrick Lennnon, who quit the team for personal reasons.

RINGGOLD - Steven Guy hit a 3-pointer with a little less than seven minutes to play to give the Wildcats the lead for good as the Wildcats held on for a Piedmont District victory.
The Warriors (3-7, 3-6) trailed for most of the night before switching to a zone defense in the third quarter. Magna Vista stayed close, but Dan River (3-9, 2-7) made 15 of 23 free throws in the fourth quarter to preserve the win.
The Wildcats' Erik Ferguson led all scorers with 32 points and went 14-19 from the free throw line. Guy finished with 22.

DRY FORK - The Lancers used a 33-point fourth quarter to ice a Piedmont District victory over the Trojans.
Warrick Scott led Laurel Park (8-4, 8-2) with 25 points and Darrell Wilson poured in 21. Jerrard Foster added 15 points.
Linwood Petty led Tunstall (4-8, 2-6) with 14 points and Levere Breedlove tossed in 13, including three 3-pointers.

ROCKY GAP - Tony Chrisely hit a shot in the lane with one second left to give the Pioneers the victory over the Eagles in a Mountain Empire District game.
Rocky Gap (5-4, 0-1) had taken a 55-54 lead when Will Dodson, who led the Eagles with 15 points, hit a shot with eight seconds left. After Chrisely, who finished with 16 points to lead Fort Chiswell (5-3, 1-0), hit his shot, the Eagles called a timeout, but a desperation shot did not fall.
Jody Burnett added 15 points for the Pioneers. Nathan Blessing chipped in 11 for the Eagles, who were plagued by poor free-throw shooting, making only nine of 25 shots.

COVINGTON - Brian Holloway stole the ball and scored on a layup with 16 seconds left to give the Cougars their only lead of the game and they held on for a Pioneer District victory over the Fighting Blues.
Covington trailed 61-58 late in the game before Mike Barber, who scored 11 points ,hit a shot to cut the lead to 61-60. Parry McCluer tried to hold the ball for one last shot, but Holloway, who scored 10 points, got the steal, made the layup and was fouled. He missed the free throw.
The Fighting Blues called a timeout with seven seconds left, and Brandon Garrett was fouled with five seconds left. He missed the front end of a one-and-one, but the ball was knocked out of bounds by the Cougars. Parry McCluer's last-second shot did not fall and the Cougars prevailed.
Mike McElroy scored a game-high 35 points and grabbed 12 rebounds to lead Parry McCluer. Dusty Roman led Covington with 14 points and 11 rebounds.

MARTINSVILLE - The Bulldogs had five scorers in double figures as they rolled past the Cavaliers in the Piedmont District.
Martinsville (8-3, 8-1) bolted to a 21-9 first-quarter lead and never looked back. Mike Martin led the way with 16 points, J.J. Wells had 12, Carlos Martin and Jason Agnew 11 and Zeb Talley added 10.

WYTHEVILLE - Aaron Andrews scored a game-high 28 points to lead the Maroons past the Panthers in the Hogoheegee District.
Andrews scored 18 of his points in the second half. Andrews also grabbed eight rebounds for George Wythe (8-2, 6-0). Teammate Jon Ervin added 18 points.
Northwood was led by Randy Reeves, who scored 18 points. Will Woodward added 13.

INDEPENDENCE - Brian Boyer's double-double helped the Blue Devils ground the Rockets in the Mountain Empire District opener for both teams.
Boyer had 15 points to go with 17 rebounds for Grayson County (8-2, 1-0). He added four blocked shots. Chad Shaffner scored 18 points and Wes Self 17 for the Devils, who led by as many as 13 in the second half and allowed Bland (3-4, 0-1) to get no closer than 11.
The Rockets were paced by Shannon Havens, with 14 points.

RURAL RETREAT - Travis Owens scored 26 points, and the Cavaliers kept the Indians winless in a Hogoheegee District contest.
Free-throw shooting hurt Rural Retreat (0-9, 0-5), which went 10-for-39 from the line. Holston made 14 of 25 attempts.
The Indians were paced by Kenny Lethco (12 points) and W.K. Smith (10).

NEW CASTLE - The Rockets outscored the Shawnees 24-3 in the second period en route to a 20-point victory over the Shawnees in non-district action.
Robby Huffman led Craig County's charge in the second period with 11 points, including three 3-pointers, and Jamie Fisher contributed with nine in the quarter.
Fisher led the Rockets with a game-high 20 points and Huffman finished with 19 points. Huffman also contributed 10 rebounds for the Rockets (3-4).
Tony Walker led Shawsville (1-9) with 13 points.
