Council's Human Resources Committee met early Thursday in a closed session to discuss possible members for the town's new Board of Economic Development. Committee Chairman Roy D'Ardenne said afterward that the committee is nearing its point of final selection.
The prospects will be contacted about their willingness to serve before their names are announced. The list could be completed by council's next meeting at 7 p.m. Tuesday.
Council is creating the board to try to do for the entire town what the Pulaski Main Street program has done for the major business center in Pulaski's downtown.
The committee is seeking board that would represent the Pulaski County school system, county Bar Association, Planning Commission, Ministerial Board, county administration, a county Chamber of Commerce recommendation, Architectural Review Board, Board of Realtors, Town Council, and the areas of industry, health, commercial/retail, bank/financial, media, utilities, food/travel, service clubs, human services, beautification, a legislative representative and someone representing citizens at large.
Roscoe Cox, who has been hired to coordinate activities of the new board for the first six months of 1995, suggested the addition of someone who served on the Economic Development Goals Committee which led to the board.
