BASHAM, Horace Kolmer, 79, of Salem, passed away Friday, January 13, 1995 in Lewis-Gale Hospital. Mr. Basham was a retired brick mason. He served in World War II and was a life member of Disabled American Veterans, American Legion and The Republican Party. Mr. Basham was preceded in death by his wife, Alta S. Basham, and is survived by his daughter, Betty Jane Craig, Salem; his son and daughter-in-law, H. Kenneth and Sharon Kay Basham, Willis; grandsons, Gerald Ronald Craig Jr., Salem, William Kevin Craig, Hollins, Chris, Mike and Kenny Basham, all of Floyd; five great-grandsons; and two great-granddaughters. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Monday at John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem, with the Rev. Leonard Southern officiating. Interment will follow in Butts Cemetery, Roanoke Co. BELL, Julian Thomas, 63, of Salem, died Saturday, January 14, 1995. He was retired from General Electric after 36 years service and a member of Locust Grove United Methodist Church. He is survived by his wife, Evelyn B. Bell; a daughter and son-in-law, Julia Bell and Michael Mario, Randolph, N. J.; two stepdaughters, Katherine T. Baker, Collinsville, Donna Long and her husband Bill, Anchorage, Alaska; three grandchildren, Heather, Sara and Joshua, who loved him very much; a brother and sister-in-law, Lawrence D. and Joyce Bell, Olathe, Kansas; sisters and brother-in-law, Irene Fortner, Dublin, Lee and Jay Lovejoy, Va. She was also preceded in death by a son, Robert Thomas DeHaven Jr. Survivors include her two daughters, Cheryl Louise DeHaven, Washington, D.C. and Pamela DeHaven, Roanoke; one son, Frank Wayne Brown, Roanoke; four grandchildren; a devoted niece, Barbara (Kitty) Williams; and nephew, James Carpenter; three sisters and a brother-in-law, Louella Hobson, Va. HARRISON, Baxter Alexander, 90, of Natural Bridge Station, went to be with the Lord Friday, January 13, 1995, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. He was born September 11, 1904 in Rockbridge County, a son of the late Pete Harrison and Mary Alice Coleman Harrison. Mr. Harrison was a self-employed carpenter and was a member of the Natural Bridge pentecostal Holiness Church. He was preceded in death by a half brother, Henry Hickman, Royal Oak, Mi., and one great-granddaughter, Amanda Clark, Buena Vista. Surviving are his wife, Mabel Lula Mae Hatcher Harrison, Natural Bridge Station; four daughters, Helen Harrison Bullock, Glasgow, Gladys Harrison Duff, Waynesboro, Martha Harrison Sorrells, Buena Vista; two sons, Hughie Wilmer Harrison, Lexington, James Henry Harrison, Excel, Ala.; 31 grandchildren; and 29 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Monday, January 16, 1995, at 2 p.m. in the Natural Bridge Pentecostal Holiness Church, with the Rev. Barry Nall, the Rev. David Bain, and the Rev. MARTIN, Alma Dalton, 90, of Neola, W.Va., died Sunday, December 25, 1994, after a long battle against emphysema and heart problems. With the help of loving family and friends, Mrs. Martin, a widow since 1961, was able to remain in her home until the Lord called her home on Christmas morning. She was a daughter of the late Joseph and Nettie Dalton of Hillsville, Va., and the widow of Howard Henry Martin of Neola. She was preceded in death by sisters, Mrs. Viola (Harman) Smith, John Day, Ore., Mrs. Etta (Cecil) Ramsey, Sarasota, Fla., Mrs. Maggie (Ralph) Fudge, West Alexandria, Ohio, Mrs. Mattie (Jack) Martin, Buchanan, Ms. Laurie ""Ruie"" Da lton, Hillsville, Va.; a half sister, Ms. Etheleen Dalton, Richmond; stepmother, Mrs. Miranda Dalton, Hillsville; brothers, Jethro and Gordon Dalton, Hillsville; James Earnest Dalton, Greensboro, Md. Mrs. Martin is survived by a foster son and wife, Ray and Aleta Smith, Martinsville; half sister, Mrs. Margo Gardner, Hillsville; a double niece; a double nephew, many other nephews and nieces. He was a graduate of Roanoke Catholic High School, a member of the Knights of Columbus, and was a retired employee of the U. S. Postal Service. Surviving are his loving parents, Mary and Zeb Poindexter, Roanoke; two brothers, John Poindexter, Roanoke, Tim Poindexter and his wife, Kristy, Franklin Co.; one sister, Teresa Jones and her husband, Billy, Roanoke; three nieces, Tonya, Amy, and Julie Poindexter.
