`JOY MAKERS' BRING HARMONY INTO NURSING-HOME LIVES

About eight years ago, Montgomery County RSVP volunteers Flemon and Gertrude Phillips came up with an idea to brighten the lives of seniors and others with music. Today, THE JOY MAKERS tour area nursing and adult care homes, meals sites, churches and retirement communities. The music they make on their 10 or so regular monthly performances is described as a mix of traditional religious and country-bluegrass.

Lead vocalist Flemon Phillips also plays autoharp and gets vocal and instrumental backing from Gertrude Phillips, Stanley Phillips, Charles and Elizabeth Moye (both RSVP volunteers), Anna Saunders, Joe Reese and Howard Mannon. Call RSVP, 382-5775, for more information.
