BAR ASSOCIATIONS ANNOUNCE 3 PICKS FOR JUDGESHIP

Three lawyers have been backed by bar associations to succeed 27th Judicial Circuit Judge Willis Woods of Wytheville when he retires in March.

Colin Campbell of Independence, who has practiced law in Grayson County since 1959, has been endorsed by the Montgomery-Floyd-Radford, Grayson-Galax and Carroll County bar associations.

The Wythe County Bar Association endorsed Wytheville lawyer Frank Slavin, after considering both Slavin and Wytheville Mayor Trent Crewe. Crewe later got the backing of the Pulaski County Bar Association.

The circuit includes the counties of Bland, Carroll, Floyd, Giles, Grayson, Montgomery, Pulaski and Wythe, and the cities of Galax and Radford.

It is served by four judges, two of whom were appointed last year. Colin Gibb succeeded A. Dow Owens, and Ray Grubbs succeeded Kenneth Devore when they retired.

The other judge is Duane Mink of Radford.
