EARNINGS

Ben Franklin Retail Stores Inc., a Carol Stream, Ill., retailer with outlets in Western Virginia, reported net income of $310,000, or 6 cents per share, on sales of $94.2 million for its third quarter ended Dec. 31, compared with year-earlier loss of $3.4 million, equal to 62 cents per share, on sales of $86.1 million. For the nine months, income was $1.1 million, or 21 cents per share, on sales of $261.6 million, compared with year-earlier income of $5.2 million, or 94 cents per share, on sales of $256.8 million.

Hillenbrand

Industries

Hillenbrand Industries, Batesville, Ind., parent of Medeco Security Locks in Salem, reported net income of $89.5 million, or $1.26 per share, on revenues of $1.58 billion for its fiscal year ended Dec. 3, compared with year-earlier income of $145.8 million, or $1.86 per share, on revenue of $1.45 billion. For its fourth quarter, net income was $40.6 million, or 57 cents per share, on revenue of $439.1 million, compared with a year-earlier $44.9 million, or 63 cents per share, on revenue of $393.5 million.
