REPORTED EARNINGS

Scott & Stringellow Financial Inc., Richmond-based brokerage and investment banking company operating an office of its Scott & Stringfellow Inc. brokerage in Roanoke, reported net income of $509,000, or 24 cents per share, on revenues of $13.1 million for its second quarter ended Dec. 31 compared with year-earlier $915,000, or 43 cents per share on revenues of $13.8 million. For the six months, net income of $1.1 million, or 52 cents per share, on revenues of $25.8 million, compared with year-earlier $1.9 million, or 90 cents per share, on revenues of $27.2 million.

Ruddick Corp.

Ruddick Corp., Charlotte, N.C., parent of Harris Teeter supermarkets, reported net income of $8.3 million, or 35 cents per share, on sales of $508 million for its first quarter ended Jan. 1. That compared with year-earlier $6.3 million, or 26 cents per share, on sales of $465 million. The Harris Teeter division reported operating profit of $10 million on sales of $423.9 million for the quarter, compared with year-earlier $7.8 million on sales of $87.9 million.
