EARNINGS

Caterpillar Inc., Peoria, Ill. parent of Carter Machinery Co. of Salem, reported 1994 profit of $955 million, or $4.70 a share, on sales and revenues of $14.33 billion, compared with year-earlier profit of $345 million, or $3.21 per share, on sales of $11.62 billion. For the fourth quarter, profit was $279 million, or $1.38 per share, on sales of $3.93 billion, compared with year-earlier $119 million, or 73 cents per share, on sales of $3.17 billion.

Reynolds Metals

Reynolds Metals Co., Richmond aluminum maker with recycling operations in Roanoke, reported net income of $122 million, or $1.42 a share, on revenues of $6.01 billion in 1994, compared with year-earlier loss of $322 million, or $5.38 a share, on revenue of $5.29 billion. For the fourth quarter, Reynolds earned $69 million, or 97 cents per share, on revenue of $1.68 billion, compared with year-earlier loss of $220 million, or $3.67 per share, on revenue of $1.35 billion.

Roanoke Gas

Roanoke Gas Co. reported net earnings of $558,602, or 40 cents per share, on operating revenues of $14.6 million for its first quarter ended Dec. 31, compared with year-earlier earnings of $1 million, or 80 cents per share, on revenues of $18.9 million.

Uni-Marts

Uni-Marts Inc., State College, Pa.-based chain of convenience stores, reported earnings of $1.3 million, or 21 cents per share, on revenues of $79.9 million for its first quarter ended Dec. 29, compared with year-earlier earnings of $1.2 million, or 18 cents per share, on revenue of $84.1 million.
