Earthquake relief

Pulaski Yard Sale
PULASKI - Donations will be accepted starting Feb. 1 for the annual Pulaski Yard Sale. which raises money for a number of causes.
Furniture, clean clothing in good condition, and other items to be sold May 4-6 will be taken at the former People's Drug Store building in the Maple Shade Shopping Plaza from 8 a.m. to 12 noon Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays.
This year, proceeds from the sale will be distributed among the Emergency Needs Task Force, Pulaski Free Clinic, Youth Emergency Shelter, New River Valley Habitat for Humanity and the SHARE Christmas food basket program. Further information is available from Anna Powers (980-2418).
Town budget award
BLACKSBURG - The town of Blacksburg's budget has received a Distinguished Budget Presentation Award from the Government Finance Officers Association of the United States and Canada. A jurisdiction's budget document is rated in how well it serves as a policy document, a financial plan, an operations guide and a communications device.
Budget documents must be rated "proficient" in all four categories to get the award. Since the association began making the award in 1984, approximately 650 jurisdictions have received it.
The Government Finance Officers Association, headquartered in Chicago, is a non-profit professional association of 12,650 government finance professionals throughout North America.
