Gingrich remarks

The House agreed Wednesday by a 214-169 vote to uphold a ruling that effectively deletes a Florida lawmaker's critical comments about Speaker Newt Gingrich of Georgia from the official record. A flap ensued when Rep. Carrie Meek, D-Fla., questioned Gingrich's ethics in accepting a widely publicized deal to publish two books. A ``yes'' vote favors killing a motion that would have reversed the decision to strike Meek's comments from the record.
