CARLISLE SCORES RECORD-SETTING VICTORY

MARTINSVILLE - Rod Mitchell scored 16 of his game-high 31 points in a school-record 45-point second quarter that carried Carlisle to a 114-52 rout of Timberlake Christian on Monday night in Virginia Independent Conference boys' action.

The Chiefs (12-2 overall, 7-1 conference) also set a school record with 73 points in the first half.

Joining Mitchell in double figures for Carlisle were Joseph McClinton (19 points), Lamont Franklin (14), Ryan Smith (13) and Kevin Warren (12).

Timberlake Christian (11-5, 3-4) was led by James Napier with 17 points and Jon Phillips with 16.

Covington Boys Home 46

COVINGTON - The Knights had five players in double figures in the easy non-district win over the Indians.

Jason Perry, Curtis Nolan and Brian Shorter each scored 14 points, while Shahan Burrell and Will Good had 13 apiece for the Knights.

Kenny Prescott's 17 points paced Covington Boys' Home (3-10).
