Terry Wayne Martin of Moneta faces up to 10 years in prison. His sentencing date has not been set.
Originally charged with driving under the influence of alcohol and aggravated involuntary manslaughter, which could have carried a combined sentence of more than 25 years, Martin pleaded guilty to the lesser felony.
Katina Lee, 18, of Huddleston was killed in January 1994 after Martin, who had been drinking, ran a stop sign and struck a pickup truck at the intersection of Virginia 24 and Virginia 122.
Although Martin told police he had not been drinking for several hours before the accident, his blood-alcohol level was 0.11 percent. A person is now considered legally drunk at 0.08 percent; at the time of the accident, the legal limit was 0.10 percent.
