Those taking advantage of these free services should bring along copies of their 1993 federal and state tax returns and forms for the 1994 tax year, including Form W-2 and other information relevant to 1994 income.

The news and views discussion group tackles the topic "What about Entitlement Programs?" today, 9:30-11 a.m., in the Blacksburg Community Center game room, 725 Patrick Henry Drive. Petition Drive: Petitions supporting Warm Hearth Village's efforts to build a 60-bed nursing center are available at First National Bank branches; the National Bank of Blacksburg and Premier Bank, Dublin and Pulaski; and at Warm Hearth's Karr Activity Center. The retirement community wants an exemption from a statewide moratorium on new nursing home construction. The nursing bed occupancy rate in the New River Valley has exceeded 95 percent for three years running, and the Virginia Department of Health recognizes a need for 93 additional beds in the valley by 1997, a Warm Hearth Village spokesman said. Senior Olympics: Starting Thursday, applications are available for the 1995 New River Valley Senior Olympics. Anyone 55 or older is eligible to compete in the events, which include basketball, golf, softball hit and throw, cards, bowling and other sports. The games are April 17-19 at the Blacksburg Recreation Park, Patrick Henry Drive. Prospective participants can pick up applications at area senior centers, the Giles RSVP office or at local recreation departments.
Rummage Sale: The Senior Athletes of Montgomery County seek donations to their annual rummage sale March 31 and April 1 at the Christiansburg National Guard Armory. To donate, call Catherine McKenzie, 382-3744.
