CHAMBER MUSIC CONCERT THURSDAY
The Quatuor Parisii are the featured artists in the third concert in the
15th anniversary season of the Roanoke Valley Chamber Music Society on
Thursday evening. The quartet, formed in 1984 by four prize-winning graduates
of the Conservatoire National Superieur de Paris, has won three major
international competitions. The group specializes in performing and recording
distinctive and unusual repertoire of the 18th, 19th and 20th centuries. The
Parisii has recorded works by Franck, Pierne, Faure, Webern, Roussel,
Tailleferre and Ibert on the Ades, Accord and Adda labels.
Thursday's concert will include Milhaud's Quartet No. 4 (1918), Mozart's
Quartet, K. 465 (``Dissonant'') and Franck's Quartet in D Major.
The concert will be held at Olin Theater, Roanoke College, at 8 p.m.
Tickets, $11 ($7 for students), are available at the Olin box office
(375-2333). A meet-the-artists reception will be held after the concert.
