CAB SLAYING SUSPECT NABBED

A man accused of shooting a Hopewell cab driver to death during a November robbery was arrested Wednesday in Philadelphia.

Duane Lamar Yorkman, 23, of Philadelphia, was captured without resistance about 10:15 a.m. by a fugitive task force that included FBI agents and city homicide detectives, Petersburg Police Lt. William C. Rohde said.

Yorkman is charged in Virginia with capital murder, robbery and two counts of using a firearm in connection with the Nov. 2 slaying of Willie James Dunbar, 49, a driver for Travelers Cab of Hopewell.

Police say Dunbar picked up a passenger outside a Hopewell pizza parlor and drove him to Petersburg, where his body was later found in his cab.

Dunbar had been shot in the head ``at least once'' and robbed of a small amount of cash, Rohde said.

Yorkman was being held without bond in the Philadelphia Detention Center pending an extradition hearing, which should be scheduled sometime in the next 30 days, Rohde said.
