CARLISLE CRUSHES HOLY CROSS 106-81

Rod Mitchell scored 26 points and Lamont Franklin added 20 as Carlisle rolled past Holy Cross 106-81 in a boys' Virginia Independent Conference basketball game on Wednesday night.

Franklin scored 17 points in the first half as Carlisle jumped out to a 61-30 halftime lead. The Chiefs never trailed.

Kevin Warren scored 16 points for Carlisle, and Joseph McClinton added 13 points and 10 assists.

Julius Esquerra scored 26 points, and Roger Collinger chipped in 21 for Holy Cross.

FORT CHISWELL - Jody Burnett scored 26 points to power the Pioneers over Pocahontas in a non-district game.

Kevin Beasley added 16 points for Fort Chiswell (7-6).

In a pre-game ceremony, Burnett was honored for becoming the sixth player in Fort Chiswell history to score 1,000 points. He reached 1,000 points on Tuesday against Floyd County.
