Junior woman's club elects 1995 officers

Barbara Swindell was recently elected president of the Brambleton Junior Woman's Club for 1995.

Other officers elected are: Debbie Milteer, first vice president; Diane Williams, second vice president; Betty Ann Tyree, third vice president; Gretchen Cockey, fourth vice president; Kathryn Holland, treasurer; and Gwen Vieth, secretary.

Department chairpersons are: Lynn Bradshaw, arts; Mary Ann McAden, conservation; Dee Gillespie, education; Nancy Hughes, home life; Karen Nelson, international affairs; Donna Franz, public affairs; and Gretchen Cockey, Camp Easter Seal.

Museum elects officers for 1995

Anthony C. Wade, a Norfolk-Southern Corp. employee, has been elected president of the board of directors of the Harrison Museum of African American Culture.

Other officers elected for 1995 include: Sharron L. Davies of Cox Cable, vice president; J. Mason Powell, a teacher, treasurer; and Veron Holland, a retired teacher, secretary.

ARC elects new board of directors

The Association for Retarded Citizens Roanoke Inc., a charitable nonprofit organization dedicated to providing to mentally retarded citizens, elected the following people to their board of directors. Steven J. Talevi, president; Joseph M. Gray, first vice president; John J. McCusker, second vice president; Michael E. Sisler, secretary; and Helen K. Sublette, treasurer.

Powell M. Leitch, III, Bruce A. Sellars, William R. Copening, Steven Downie and Tammy L. Moss were also elected to the board.

MDA accepting award nominations

Nominations are being accepted for the Muscular Dystrophy Association's fourth annual Personal Achievement Awards.

Nominees must be affected by one of the 40 neuromuscular diseases in MDA's program; and they should be noted for accomplishments and community service. Nominations can be made by organizations or individuals and must be submitted by March 7.

The awards are given on a local, state and national level.

CMMA picks planning committee members

The Credit Marketing and Management Association has chosen members to serve on the Mother's Day Planning Committee, which selects the winners for the association's Mother of the Year Award.

Rusty Coffman will serve as chairperson. Other members of the committee are: C. Stan Cross, Arthur Early Jr., Denny Early, Theresa Flinchum, H.L. Jackson Jr., Garland Kidd, Dody Matze, Sheila McDaniel, Bill Payne, Hayward Statum and Wylie Walton.

Postal service to form advisory council

The U.S. Postal Service is seeking volunteers for a Customer Advisory Council in Roanoke.

The council will provide a forum for individual customers' concerns, ideas and suggestions.

The postal employees will play an active role by answering questions and informing council members of new or changing programs.
