BEAN, James Arthur 51, of Salem, died Tuesday, January 24, 1995. He is survived by his wife, Lois J. Bean; sons and daughter-in-law, James Vincent and Robin Bean, Salem, Kyle W. Bean and finance' Melinda J. Manspile, Salem; daughter and son-in-law, Drema F. and Allen Clark, Salem; grandson, James Aaron Bean; three granddaughters, NaTasha and Kayla Clark, Taylor Bean; two brothers, Tommy Bean, Jackie Bean; sister, Virginia Sowers, all of Christiansburg. Funeral services will be held 11 a.m. on Friday, January 27, 1995, at the John M. Oakey & Son Funeral Home Chapel, Salem with the Rev. John L. Wilson officiating. Interment will follow at the Sherwood Memorial Park. Family will receive friends 6 to 9 p.m. Thursday at the Funeral Home.

CATRON, Virginia Peake, 84, of Max Meadows, died Tuesday, January 24, 1995. Funeral 1 p.m. Friday, St. Paul Pentecostal Holiness Church. Arrangements by Barnett Funeral Home, Wytheville.

CAUL, Andrew Bertrand, (``A.B.''), 82, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, January 24, 1995. He was retired from Home Beneficial Life Insurance Company with over 40 years of service. He attended Edgemont ARP Church in Covington. He was a Navy veteran of WWII and was preceded in death by his wife, Lucille Menefee Caul. Surviving are children and spouses, Dean and Joseph Blanton, Monroe, N.C., Paula and David Pruett, Roanoke, Bert and Betsy Caul, Covington, Judy Cook, Apache Junction, Az., Andrew Caul, Texas; one brother, A.C. Caul, Waynesboro; several grandchildren including Miranda Blanton and Kennon Blanton, both of North Carolina. Services will be at Colonial Presbyterian Church, 11 a.m. Friday, January 27, 1995. Dr. Michael R. Nevling will officiate. Graveside services will be at 2 p.m. Friday in Alleghany Memorial Park, Cov ington. The Rev. William Harris will officiate. Friends may call at Oakey's South Chapel after 4 p.m. Thursday where the family will be from 7 to 8:30 p.m. In lieu of flowers memorials may be made to the American Heart Association or the American Lung Association.

DAVIS, Jennings T., 88, of Rt. 4, Rocky Mount, died Tuesday, January 24, 1995. Mr. Davis was owner and operator of Clearbrook Service and Grocery for many years. Surviving are his wife, Nancy P. Davis; a son, Clarence (Tony) Davis, Rocky Mount; two daughters, Glorous Kuhnke, Dumphries, and Peggy Ann Vasta, Carson, Calif.; a sister, Peggy Smith, Newark, N.J.; also surviving are seven grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted at Lotz Roanoke Chapel 2 p.m. Friday, January 27, 1995 with Pastor Jeff Gardner officiating. Interment in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. IRVINE, Bertie Nicely, 79, of Lexington, died Tuesday, January 24, 1995, at Shenandoah Valley Health Care Facility, Buena Vista. Born May 16, 1915, in Rockbridge Co., she was the daughter of the late Henry Nicely and Mary Knick Nicely. She retired from W & L Food Service. Surviving are one son, Clifford W. Irvine Sr., Lexington; two sisters, Lucy Conner, Lexington, Rose Morris, Buena Vista; two brothers, Coleman Nicely, Lexington, Claude Nicely, Centerville; three grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 27, 1995, at 11 a.m. from Harrison Funeral Chapel with the Rev. George H. Warden Jr. officiating. Burial will follow in Kerrs Creek Baptist Cemetery. The family will receive friends from 7 to 8 p.m. Thursday at Harrison Funeral Home.

LIDDLE, James Earl, 77, of Roanoke, died Tuesday, January 24, 1995, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born on August 21, 1917, in Kimball, W.Va., he was a son of the late John Harvey and Thelma Harman Liddle. Mr. Liddle had been a resident of Roanoke for 21 years and was formerly of McDowell County, W.Va. He was a retired coal miner, having retired from United Pocahontas Coal Co. in Crumpler, W.Va., with 38 years service. He was a member of U.M.W.A. and a veteran of WWII serving with the U.S. Army. He was a member of the Oakland Baptist Church in Roanoke and was preceded in death by a grandson, Scott Robertson; five brothers; and two sisters. Survivors are his wife, M argaret McKinney Liddle of Roanoke; daughter and son-in-law, Joyce Sparks and husband, Carl, of Roanoke; brother, Herman Liddle of Lehigh Acres, Fla.; sister, Mrs. W. W. (Elizabeth) Watson of Tazewell. Funeral services will be conducted Friday, January 27, 1995, at 11 a.m. at the Cravens-Shires Funeral Home Chapel in Bluewell, W.Va., with the Rev. Lanie Mofield and the Rev. W. W. Watson officiating. Burial will follow at the Roselawn Memorial Gardens on the Courthouse Road in Princeton, W.Va. LOGAN, Leo Emmett, 59, of Salem, died Tuesday, January 24, 1995, in a Salem hospital. He is survived by one son, Leo E. Logan Jr.; two daughters, Cynthia Logan, Caroleen Logan, all of Roanoke; one granddaughter, Cassandra Logan, Roanoke; one sister, Marion Gaston, Salem; a special friend, Gertrude Kyle, Salem. MEADOR, Lorraine Lura, 94, of Del City, Okla., formerly of Roanoke, Va., died Monday, January 23, 1995. She was widow of Mr. George Thomas Meador. Surviving are granddaughter and husband, Dianna and Ed Cox, Del City, Okla.; seven great-grandchildren, four great-great-grandchildren; a number of nieces and nephews. Graveside services will be conducted 10 a.m. Friday, January 27, 1995, at Fair View Cemetery with the Rev. Frank Feather officiating. MILES, Elsie Rush Goad Dalton, of Rumson, N.J., and formerly of Hillsville, died Wednesday, January 12, 1995. Born February 24, 1924, in Hillsville, she was the daughter of the late Dr. and Mrs. R. R. Goad of Hillsville. She was graduated from Hillsville High School, Mary Washington College, Fredricksburg, and East Tennessee State University, Johnson City, Tenn. She served for some time on the Bristol, Tenn. City School Board. She was a member of Central Presbyterian Church in Bristol, Va. She was an initial faculty member of Cleveland Community College, Cleveland, Tenn. Surviving are her husband, George E. Miles of Rumson, N.J.; her daughters, Mrs. Alice Dalton McKee of Kingsport , Tenn., and Mrs. Betty Dalton Watts of Santee, Calif.; four stepdaughters; three stepsons; two grandsons; three granddaughters; ten stepgrandchildren; three nieces; one great-niece; and one nephew. Visitation with the family will be held from 2 to 3 p.m. Saturday, January 28, 1995, at the Vaughn-Guynn-McGrady Chapel in Hillsville. Graveside service and interment will follow in in Felts Memorial Cemetery in Galax with the Rev. James Carpenter officiating. Memorial gifts can be made to Central Presbyterian Church, Bristol, VA.

RICHARDSON, Beulah Allene Crawford 82 of Route 2, Narrows, died Wednesday morning, January 25, 1995, in the Montgomery Regional Hospital in Blacksburg, Va. A lifelong resident of Giles County. She was born on February 11, 1912, and was the daughter of the late, John C. and Nannie Strauder McClanahan Crawford. She was preceded in death by her husband, Charles Emory Richardson and a son, Russell Richardson. She is survived by three sons, Lewis Richardson, Roanoke, Robert Richardson, Salem, Clinton Richardson, Narrows; three daughters, Lou Mae Whitfield, Navarre, Ohio, Faye Washer, Holiday, Fla., Bonnie Utt, Glendale, Ariz.; four sisters, Millie Drawbond, Reston, Dorothy Talbert, Nellie Talbert, both of Beckley, W. Va., Delilah Jones, Narrows; 22 grandchildren; 43 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held Saturday, January 28, 1995, at 11 a. m. at Riffe's Funeral Chapel in Narrows, with Rev. Kellis McClaugherty and Rev. Jack Talbert officiating. Burial will follow in Fairview Cemetery, Narrows. The family will receive friends at Riffe's Funeral Home, Narrows, Friday evening from 7 to 9 p.m.

STEPHENSON, Charles P. Jr., (``Sonny""), 58, of Roanoke, died Wednesday, January 25, 1995. He was President of Stephenson & Aldridge Furniture Corporation until its closing in 1990. He most recently had been affiliated with Lawyers Title Insurance of Roanoke. He was a 1959 graduate of Lynchburg College majoring in business. Mr. Stephenson was a member of Windsor Hills United Methodist Church and was a past board member of the Southern Retail Furniture Association. Mr. Stephenson was also active in the Roanoke Valley Chamber of Commerce for many years. Surviving is his wife, Shirley Boley Stephenson; his children, Charles Philmore (Chuck) Stephenson III and wife, Teresa P., Teresa Leigh (Terri) Stephenson Belcher and husband, Andrew C., Lee Allen Stephenson and future wife, Karen Boyd; two grandchildren, Charlsie Teressa Stephenson, Skyler Thane Stephenson; his mother, Mabel Richardson Stephenson; one brother, Robert Stephenson; numerous cousins. Memorial services will be at Windsor Hills United Methodist Church at 1 p.m. Friday, January 27, 1995. The Rev. D. Michael Meloy will officiate. WYMER, Archie Robert 76, of Fincastle, died Wednesday, January 25, 1995. He is survived by on step son, Curtis D. Stanley, Troutville; a great nephew and niece, Richard and Sandra Wymer, Shawsville; three step grandchildren; and six step great-grandchildren; one step great-great-grandchild; and several other nieces and nephews. A graveside service will be held Friday, January 27, 1995, 11 a.m., in Godwin Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to the Fincastle Rescue Squad.
