``They've been calling around, asking, `How'd you do it?''' Radford political science Professor Sidney Pearson said.
Pearson declined to say which JMU professors were calling, or just what kind of advice his Radford colleagues were offering.
However, he suggested that the JMU faculty members who want to oust Ronald Carrier have made a tactical error by calling for, and passing, a vote of no confidence in the longtime president.
That vote, Pearson said, simply forces the board of visitors - and state legislators - to rally behind the president.
``The general public is not on the side of faculty,'' Pearson said. ``My guess is that Carrier's not immediately concerned.''
He suggested that the JMU professors instead should have concentrated on splitting the board into pro-Carrier and anti-Carrier factions.
