ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Roanoke Regional Airport had a 13.48 percent increase in the number of boarding passengers last year. Airport spokesman Mark Courtney said 1994 was the best year since 1980, just after deregulation of the airline industry.

The airport reported that 373,986 people boarded planes here last year, compared with 329,575 a year earlier. December's boardings were up 5.33 percent from the same month a year earlier.

Cargo tonnage shipped through the Roanoke airport rose 29.88 percent from 1993. The airport handled 19,794.21 tons of cargo last year, compared with 15,288.66 a year earlier. The December-to-December gain was 48.79 percent.
