PRINCE PACES VMI TO 2ND STRAIGHT WIN

Former Lord Botetourt standout Bobby Prince scored 19 points, including eight free throws in the final three minutes, as VMI got its second straight victory, a 72-63 Southern Conference win over Tennessee-Chattanooga in Lexington on Monday night.

The Keydets defeated the Moccasins for the first time since the 1990 Southern Conference tournament when VMI won 83-69. VMI has beaten Tennessee-Chattanooga only once in 10 games.

The Keydets (4-12 overall, 2-4 Southern Conference) led 37-32 at halftime and increased their advantage to 50-32 with 14 minutes remaining. The Moccasins rallied to take a 58-57 lead before Prince sank two free throws with 2:36 left to give VMI the lead for good.

Prince hit a 10-foot jumper to put the Keydets up 61-58 with 2:16 to go and VMI hit 11 of 12 free throws in the last 1:52 to seal the win.

Brian Taueg scored 18 points for VMI and Lawrence Gullette had 14.

Tennessee-Chattanooga (9-9, 4-2) got 14 points from Maurio Hanson and 13 from Born.
