MAN SURVIVES 5 SHOTS

A man who was shot five times in Stewartsville on Monday night was in stable condition at Roanoke Memorial Hospital.

The Lifeguard 10 helicopter transported the 54-year-old man to the hospital, according to Laura Dearing, a medic with the Stewartsville Rescue Squad.

Dearing did not give the name of the man. The Bedford Sheriff's Office would not release any information on him, or about why or how he was shot.

Dearing said she was surprised the man was in stable condition after being shot so many times.

``It should have been worse that it was,'' she said.

She said as far as she knew, no one else was injured in the incident.
