Chesapeake Corp. of Richmond recently announced fourth-quarter earnings of $16.3 million, or 68 cents per share of common stock, an increase of 123 percent from the fourth quarter of 1993.
Net income foO r all of 1994 was $37.6 million, or $1.58 per share, a 262 percent increase from net income of $10.4 million, or 44 cents per share, during 1993.
Net sales of the company, which operates a corrugated package plant in Roanoke, were a record $274.7 million during the fourth quarter, an increase of 37 percent and reflecting improved pricing for all of the company's products.

DuPont's fourth-quarter and yearly earnings for 1994 set company records.
The company, which operates a nylon plant in Martinsville, reported net income for the fourth quarter of $646 million, or 95 cents per share of common stock, compared with 1993 fourth-quarter income of $226 million, or 33 cents per share.
Net income for all of 1994 was $2.7 billion, or $4 per share, compared with $555 million, or 81 cents per share, in 1993.
Total company sales for the year were $39.3 billion, compared with $37.1 billion during 1993.
Earnings of the company's fibers segment, which includes its nylon business, were $676 million in 1994, up 59 percent from the $425 million earned in 1993.

Cooper Industries Inc. reported its earnings per share of common stock increased by 17 percent in the fourth quarter, from a restated 54 cents per share in the fourth quarter of 1993 to 63 cents in 1994.
Income from continuing operations increased in the fourth quarter from a restated $75.2 million in 1993 to $85.5 million in 1994.
The company's 1993 results were restated to treat its petroleum and industrial equipment group, which was spun off, as a discontinued operation.
For all of 1994, after-tax earnings from continuing operations before a third-quarter charge related to the spinoff were $292.8 million, or $2.10 a share, compared with restated earnings from continuing operations in 1993 of $299 million, or $2.15 a share.
Cooper of Houston, Texas, a diversified, worldwide maker of electrical products, tools , hardware and automotive products, operates a Crouse-Hinds electrical products plant in Roanoke.
Sterile Concepts
Sterile Concepts Holdings Inc., a Richmond company formerly owned by Carilion Health System, Monday announced first-quarter sales were $35.97 million, a 24 percent increase over the first quarter in 1994. Earnings were $2.4 million, or 43 cents a share, up 19 percent, excluding certain expenses associated with the change in ownership.
