ROANOKE WOMEN KNOCK OFF REGION'S TOP-RANKED TEAM

Roanoke College built an early 13-point lead and held on to upset Maryville, the top-ranked team in this week's NCAA Division III South Region women's basketball poll, 72-66 on Tuesday night in Salem.

Marcee Hufton hit five of six free throws down the stretch and led the way for Roanoke (12-5) with 28 points. Lori Boyd had 15 points and 10 rebounds, and Crystal Wilson added 13 points and eight rebounds.

Jamie Parrott led Maryville (16-4) with 31 points.
