The Central Fidelity branch at 4143 Franklin Road was robbed at 4:55 p.m., said Roanoke County Police Detective Jeff Herrick. The woman, described as being about 35 years old, handed a teller a note saying she wanted the cash from all the tellers.
She fled the bank in a light-colored car and headed south on Franklin Road toward Boones Mill, Herrick said.
Herrick said police were checking a couple of leads. The FBI is also involved in the investigation.
The robbery was the fourth in the Roanoke area in just more than a month. The Crestar branch at Cave Spring Corners was robbed Dec. 30, and the First Virginia Bank on Virginia 419 was robbed four days later.
On Jan. 9, Roanoke County police arrested Braze Gilmore, 39, of Roanoke just after the robbery of a third bank, the Crestar at Orange Avenue and King Road. Gilmore is also a suspect in the first two robberies, according to the FBI.
