BLACKSBURG - The Conference of the Universities of Western Switzerland recently awarded VTLS Inc. of Blacksburg a contract to transfer its catalog of libraries to the VTLS system.
The transfer of the two million bibliographic records in the current catalog to the new system will be completed in a two-year period.
VTLS Inc. is an international software company specializing in library automation and information management with head offices in Blacksburg and branch offices in Helsinki and Barcelona.
Retirement workshop
BLACKSBURG - The Blacksburg office of Edward D. Jones & Co. will sponsor a live satellite broadcast today of a panel discussion concerning current Congressional proposals to help ensure retirement security.

Hico Inc. gets Appomattox job
CHRISTIANSBURG - Hico Inc., a Christiansburg-based contractor specializing in asbestos and lead paint abatement, has been awarded a contract for removal of lead-based paint in Peers House, the site of the formal surrender that ended the Civil War in 1865.
The historic house is in the Appomattox Courthouse National Historical Park in Appomattox, Va. The house was named for George T. Peers, county clerk from 1860 to 1900, who witnessed the event.
