Olga Thrasher always was something of a mystery woman. But to television viewers who tune in to watch ``Unsolved Mysteries'' this week, she'll be a complete enigma.
At her request, the name and photo of the flamboyant beauty will not be used in a segment of the show scheduled to air Friday.
Filmed in Western Virginia last month, the segment profiles her ex-husband, Wallace Thrasher, a Bland County pilot who disappeared under mysterious circumstances in 1984 just as he was about to be indicted on drug-smuggling charges.
Maria Romeo, a Washington, D.C.-based actress who bears a striking resemblance to Thrasher, will portray her on the show, but her character will not be identified by name, said Michael Palazzolo, the segment producer.
The decision not to identify Thrasher was made after her current husband told the producers that Olga and Wallace Thrasher's two children never were told about their father's past.
The husband also feared that some people still might be seeking revenge against Olga Thrasher, who testified against her husband and others in exchange for her freedom.
According to the Drug Enforcement Administration, Thrasher is living in Georgia and has refused federal witness protection.
Warner's plugged in
U.S. Sen. John Warner is cruising the information superhighway.
He has become the latest officeholder to accept e-mail - that's electronic mail, for non-computer types - from constituents via the Internet.
Warner's e-mail address is: senatorwarner.senate.gov.
E-mail correspondents will receive an automatic acknowledgment that their mail arrived, but any detailed response will come via ``snail mail,'' i.e., the U.S. Postal Service.
Other officeholders representing Western Virginia who have e-mail addresses are:
Sen. Charles Robb: senator-robbrobb.senate.gov
Rep. Rick Boucher: jshoemakhr.house.gov.
Rep. Bob Goodlatte: talk2bobhr.house.gov
