BARTON, Eula Perdue, 86, of Vinton and Harpers Ferry, W. Va., where she resided with her son, L. Stafford Barton, died Friday, February 3, 1995, in a Charles Town hospital. She was the widow of Moody W. Barton and was also preceded in death by a sister, Ola Scruggs. She was a member of Temple Baptist Church, Newport News. Also surviving is a brother, Luther L. Dillon of Hardy. Funeral services will be conducted from Oakey's Vinton Chapel at 1:30 p.m. Monday, February 6, 1995, with the Rev. W. Pembroke Hall and the Rev. Beverly Turner officiating. BELCHER, Stovall Harrison, 88, of Martinsville, passed away Sunday, February 5, 1995, at his home. He was preceded in death by a son, Billy A. Belcher. Survivors include three daughters, Lorraine Coleman, Mary Jamison, both of Martinsville, and Vivian Fisher, Bassett; two sons, Richard Belcher, Martinsville, Harold Belcher, Evergreen; one sister, Edith Hall, Martinsville; 11 grandchildren; 10 great-grandchildren; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be 2 p.m. Wednesday at the Maberry Funeral Home Chapel, Floyd, with Rev. Bryan Childress officiating. Burial will be in the Conner Cemetery, Meadows of Dan. BROWNING, Theresa Chicora, of Roanoke, went to be with the Lord on Saturday, February 4, 1995. She was a member of New Covenant Assembly of God Church. She is survived by her husband, Claude Browning; a special son, Bill Chafin; a sister, Elizabeth Chafin; a brother, Clair Harth; several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be held 11:30 a.m. Tuesday, February 7, Oakey's North Chapel with the Rev. Ervin Hukill officiating. Interment will follow in Blue Ridge Memorial Gardens. BUCKLAND, Jackie Ray, 63, of Roanoke, passed away Sunday, February 5, 1995. He was retired from the N&W Railroad and was a veteran of the Navy serving in Korea. He is survived by wife, Healanna R. DAVIS, Margaret Thearowia, 62, of Lexington, died Saturday, February 4, 1995, in the Stonewall Jackson Hospital. Born in Lexington, May 26, 1932, she was the daughter of the late Jerry and Christine Stewart Curry. She was preceded in death by her husband, George Howard Davis. Surviving are three sons, Steven T. Davis and Jon C. Davis, both of Lexington; Howard M. Davis, Hampton; one step daughter, Ann Pleasant, Lexington; one step son Melvin Davis, Lexington; one sister, Mary Vernell Brown, Radford; nine grandchildren; and 2 great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be conducted 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8, at the Lomax Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Willie Butler officiating. Burial will follow in the Evergreen Cemetery. GIBSON, Linda Green, 54, of Roanoke, died Saturday, February 4, 1995, in a local hospital. Mrs. Gibson was a member of the Eastern Star. Surviving are her husband, James Morrison Gibson; two daughters and sons-in-law, Morrisa G. and Gary Abbott, Pamela G. and Richard Stover, Roanoke; three grand-children, Kristopher Abbott, Lee Abbott and Chelsea Stover. KINCER, Michael Rolfe, 44, of Wytheville, died Sunday, February 5, 1995, in the Wytheville Community Hospital. He was president and co-owner of Kincer Miller Hardware, a member of St. Paul United Methodist Church, past president of the Wytheville Jaycees and a member of the Iron Boots Club. He was also a graduate of Emory and Henry College. He is survived by his wife, Kathy Akers Kincer; one son, Matthew Jacob Kincer; two step children, Amada Gayle Cox, Joshua Cox; his parents, J.G. and Doris S. Kincer all of Wytheville; one sister, Jamie C. Kincer, Radford; his father-in-law and mother-in-law, Lewis J. and Betty J. Akers of Wytheville. Funeral services will be held Tuesday, February 7, at 2:00 p.m. at the Barnett Funeral Chapel with the Rev. Bruce Tuttle officiating. Interment will follow in the King's Grove Cemetery. LINTECUM, Rhesa Harlin, 71, of Hillsville, passed away, Saturday, February 5, 1995, at his residence. He is survived by his wife, Forthe Lintecum, Hillsville; a daughter and son-in-law, Janet and J. D. Rotenizer, Hillsville; a son and daughter-in-law, Gerald and Brenda Lintecum, Mt. Airy, N.C.; two brothers, Roscoe Lintecum, Hillsville; Carol Lintecum, Martinsville; eight grandchildren; four great-grandchildren. MOORE, John P reston, of Lexington, died Saturday, February 4, 1995, in Charlottesville. Born of a Rockbridge family in Lexington, November 1, 1906, he was the son of a prominent Lexington lawyer, Frank Moore, and Lois Thorn Moore of Millersburg, Ky. He was married to Anna C. Dart of Providence, R.I. A graduate of Washington & Lee University, summa cum laude, he took a Masters Degree in history at Harvard University and a Ph.D. at Northwestern University. He taught at Washington & Lee, The Citadel in Charleston, S.C. and for 26 years at Louisiana State University, Baton Rouge, La. As a historian, he was the author of four books on Spanish Colonial History, one of which, REVOLT IN LOUISIANA, won the Kemper Williams Prize in Louisiana history. He contributed numerous articles and book reviews to historical magazines and journals, and in addition, he received a Guggenheim Fellowship to Spain. In the Second World War he served at the Hdg. of the 12th Fleet Naval Command in London in Naval Intelligence, retiring in 1945 as Lt. Commander USNR. Returning to his home in Lexington in 1972, he became the historian of the Rockbridge Chapter of the Sons of the American Revolution. A member of the R. E. Lee Memorial Episcopal Church of Lexington, he is survived by his wife of fifty two years; a son, Frank Laird Moore; four grand-children of Baton Rouge; a daughter, Sara Ann C. Lincoln; and another son, Ralph Merrill Lincoln; two nephews, Hullihen Williams Moore of Richmond, Thomas Thorn Moore of Charlotte, N.C. Graveside services at the Stonewall Jackson Memorial Cemetery in Lexington will be conducted by his cousin, The Rev. John Moore, at 11 a.m. Wednesday, February 8. SAWYERS, Cecil M., 92, of 2001 Ohio Street, Bluefield, W.Va., died Saturday February 4, 1995, in a Bluefield, Va. Health Care Center. Born in Autinville, she was a daughter of the late Michael Cletus and Rebecca Dixon Shipwash. She was a member of the Bland Street United Methodist Church and was a clerk for the former Watson's Department Store. She was preceded in death by her husband, Arthur Sawyers; a daughter, Helen K. Skerko; two sisters, Willie Brown and Unice Jones; three brothers, Frank Shipwash, Roy Shipwash, Ernest Shipwash; and a grandson, John Michael Skerko. Surviving include a sister, Rachel Beitz of Attica, N.Y.; two great-grandchildren, David Skerko and Kenneth Skerko both of Bluefield, W.Va. SEAGLE, Gerald Carlton, (""Jerry""), 56, of Wytheville, died Sunday, February 5, 1995, in the Roanoke Memorial Hospital. He was a retired Lieutenant from the Wytheville Police Dept. with over 26 years of service. He is survived by his wife, Phoebe Ryan Seagle, Wytheville; one son and daughter-in-law, Tony and Dreamia Seagle, Wytheville; one sister and brother-in-law, Doris and John Rabik, Garden City, S.C.; one grandson, Tony Seagle Jr., Wytheville; two grand-daughters, Tasha and Kimberly Seagle, Wytheville; and several nieces and nephews. Funeral services will be Wednesday 2 p.m. in the St. John's Episcopal Church conducted by the Rev. Laurie McAlpine with the interment to follow in the West End Cemetery. SIMPSON, Brian Cornelius, 22, of the Clendennin Community near Narrows, died Saturday evening, February 4, 1995. Born in Radford on September 30, 1972, he was a 1990 graduate of Giles High School. He was a self-employed farmer. Surviving are his father, Thomas W. Simpson Jr., of Dublin; his mother and stepfather, Monica P. and Howard ""Buddy"" Evans, of Narrows; a sister, Sabrina Lynn Simpson, of Narrows; a half brother, Ryan Shane Evans, of Narrows; his maternal grandparents, Hufford and Nora Payne, of Narrows; his paternal grandparents, Gertrude and Thomas Simpson Sr., of Bellspring; two stepsisters, Lisa Whittaker, of Radford, and Diane Evans, of Narrows. ST. CLAIR, Thomas E., 66, of Roanoke, died Thursday, February 2, 1995. Mr. St. Clair retired from the US Marine Corps having served in North China in 1947, 1948 and 1949 with the F.M.F. West Pack. He was a member of the Hawkins-Reeve Post #7916 of the Veterans of Foreign Wars, Occoquan, Va. and a member of the Disabled American Veterans. Surviving are his wife, Joannah Kate St.Clair; daughters, Barbara Ann Causseaux, Burke, Deborah Lynn St.Clair, Woodbridge; grandchildren, Arrin Chase and Lindsey Causseaux; mother, Helen Anderson St.Clair, Johnson City, Tenn.; brothers, John G.
