CHILHOWIE - Edna Love of Pulaski and Michael Dowell, director of the Fine Arts Center for the New River Valley, will be among the participants at an arts dialogue at 7 p.m. Thursday at The Art Place in Chilhowie.
Love, who opened The Arts Place several years ago, will moderate a panel that includes Dowell; Ellen Elms, a board member of the Virginia Alliance for Arts Education; Mary T. Wampler, a member of the Virginia Commission of Arts; Diana Love, president of Virginia Music Educators, and Charles Goolsby, artist and art professor at Emory & Henry College.
They will discuss the arts in education, charter schools and legislative support for the arts and economy. The meeting is open to the public. The Arts Place is at 131 E. Main St. Further information is available by calling 980-6982.
Continuing education
Radford University now has a continuing education program coordinator at Virginia Western Community College in Roanoke.
Brenda Brinkley will support students who are enrolled in Radford University courses that are held at the community college. She will also work in admissions, financial aid, alumni affairs and public relations.
