ROANOKE REGIONAL ECONOMIC INDICATORS

Roanoke Valley home sales surged in January, with a 41 percent increase from December 1994 and an 8 percent increase from January 1994. The Roanoke Valley Association of Realtors reported 250 homes placed under contract in January, compared with 177 in December and 231 a year earlier.

The average house was on the market 101 days before being sold. The median home price was $84,950.
