VINTON MAN CHARGED IN ROBBERY, WOUNDING

Police charged a 36-year-old Vinton man with robbing another man, then cutting him with a machete Saturday night.

John M. Seaton, of the 1800 block of Hardy Road, was arrested shortly after a 49-year-old Vinton man reported that he was robbed outside of Alvaro's Market at 1002 Walnut Avenue in Vinton.

The man told police that as he entered his car shortly after 6 p.m., the robber approached him, drew a machete and demanded money.

He gave the robber some cash, then was cut on the chin with the machete, police said. The robber fled toward Roanoke on foot.

Seaton was charged with armed robbery and unlawful wounding.
