Jan Bingham Shiflett, 36, was killed when she failed to yield the right of way and turned in front of a police cruiser, state police said.
They said the cruiser had its lights and sirens on and was responding to a domestic dispute that had spilled over to the town's Police Department.
Officer Bill Baker, who broke his kneecap in the collision, was released Sunday from Montgomery Regional Hospital.
State police, who investigated the accident because a town officer was involved, estimated Shiflett was driving about 40 mph in the 35 mph zone of Roanoke Street that was less than a block from her Evans Street home. Baker's speed was estimated at 55 mph.
Shiflett was not wearing a seat belt, according to Trooper Frank Lotts' accident report. Town police said a seat belt and air bag saved Baker from more serious injuries.
