The Highlanders (9-5 overall, 5-1 district) got off to a hot start, outscoring the Chargers 16-5 in the opening quarter. Glenvar opened it up to 36-25 by halftime.
Bath County (10-5, 5-3) cut its deficit to two points in the second half, but could get no closer. Matt Williams paced the Chargers with 12 points and Todd Townsend had 10.
Glenvar was led by James Williams with 14 points. Nick Varney and Cory Willis added 11 each.

Northside 62
LOW MOOR - Shrell Bolden and Jason Petty combined to score 15 of the Mountaineers' 22 fourth-quarter points as Alleghany handed the Vikings their first Blue Ridge District loss.
Bolden had nine of his 12 points in the fourth quarter, hitting five of six free throws, and Petty scored six of his eight points in the fourth quarter to lead the Mountaineers.
Alleghany (9-6, 2-4), which got 16 points from Donnie Costigan and 15 from James Hughes, took advantage of its free-throw shooting, making 22 of 34 attempts. Northside, however, struggled at the line, making only 14 of 30 free-throw attempts.
Northside (13-5, 6-1) was led by Maurice Garrison, who scored a game-high 21 points, but had only four in an 11-point Vikings fourth quarter. Karim Thompson added 17 points, but made only one of seven free-throw attempts and did not score in the fourth quarter.

CHARLOTTESVILLE - The Colonels overcame early foul trouble and held on for a non-district victory over the Patriots.
Derrick Hines led the way for William Fleming (12-4), which had to hold the ball for much of the first half because of the foul situation. Charles Burnette added 12 points.
Mark Bresson (13 points) was one of four double-figure scorers for Albemarle, joining Ramsey Hathaway (11), Jamel Ross (10) and Dwayne Payne (10). The Patriots had two shots to win it in the closing seconds, but came up empty.

LYNCHBURG - Brian Whitaker scored 30 points, half of them on 3-point goals, to lead the Raiders to a Virginia Independent Conference victory over the Gaels.
North Cross (8-9, 5-5) built on a 10-point halftime lead by making eight of nine shots from the field in the third quarter.
Hal Johnson had 16 points and 14 rebounds for the Raiders.
Holy Cross (3-15, 2-9) got 17 points from Roger Colinger, 16 from Abe Hughes and 15 from Garth Calhoun.

Tony Joyce, back after missing two games with a thigh bruise, scored 22 points as the Celtics beat the Tigers in the Virginia Independent Conference.
Catholic (7-13, 6-6) had a huge advantage at the free-throw line, making 28 of 40 attempts, while Hargrave was 2-of-2.
Brendan McCarthy added 18 for Catholic and Alex Dickson scored 13.
Mike Moore and Tim Davis each scored 16 for Hargrave Military.

The Terriers raced to a 20-point halftime lead and coasted to an easy Blue Ridge District victory over the Wildcats.
Chris Childress hit 16 points and pulled in eight rebounds along with Kevin Tuck. Michael McGuire added 15 points for Byrd (14-3, 5-2). The victory, coupled with an upset of Northside by Alleghany, put the Terriers a game behind the Vikings in the district race.
Rockbridge County (0-16, 0-6) was paced by Ricky Wright with 11 points and Rob Hoyle with 10.

BUCHANAN - Jason Perry scored 10 of his 15 points in the first quarter to give the Knights a big lead as they beat the Rams in the Pioneer District.
Highland (6-9, 1-7) cut its deficit to seven points in the third quarter, but James River's Shahan Burrell scored 10 of his 15 points in the period to help the Knights (8-8, 5-4) pull away.
Curtis Nolan added 13 for James River.
T.J. Honaker led the Rams with 19 points.

The Chiefs built a working margin with a run at the end of the first half and forced 21 Eagles turnovers in a Virginia Independent Conference victory on Roanoke Valley Christian's court.
The Eagles were as close as 10 points with a little more than three minutes left, but could draw no closer. RVC (9-9, 4-6) was led by Mark Arbogast's 17 points. Joel Nester added 16 points and seven rebounds.
Carlisle (13-2, 8-1), which saw its string of 100-point games snapped at three, got 25 points from Ryan Smith and 20 from Joseph McClinton.

SHAWSVILLE - Jeremy Nichols held the Pioneer District's second-leading scorer, Robbie Huffman, to four points in addition to scoring a game-high 27 points to lead the Shawnees in a non-district romp over the Rockets.
Huffman went into the game needing seven points to reach 1,000 for his career and was averaging almost 19 a game, but Nichols shadowed him throughout the night. Nichols also scored all 10 of Shawsville's points in the third quarter and had 18 in the second half as the Shawnees (2-15) pulled away.
Craig County (3-13) was led by Jamie Fisher, who scored a team-high 20 points. Cory Dow added 14 for Shawsville.

MARTINSVILLE - The Raiders overcame the loss of leading-scorer Emily Cook to fouls in the fourth quarter and held on for a Blue Ridge Conference victory over the Chiefs.
Cook led North Cross (2-14, 2-8) with nine points and Emily Kennedy added eight.
Brook Holyfield scored a game-high 16 points for Carlisle (0-14, 0-6).
Monday's game
Cave Spring 63, Albemarle 62: In Charlottesville, Aimee Beightol scored a game-high 26 points, including all five of the Knights' points in overtime, to lead Cave Spring to a non-district victory over the Patriots.
Beightol made a key steal with 12 seconds left in overtime and the Knights (13-4) trailing 62-60. She converted a layup and a free throw to put Cave Spring ahead 63-62.
Albemarle had a chance to win when Sarah Trayers was fouled with six seconds left, but she missed the front end of a one-and-one and the Knights grabbed the rebound.
Cheryl Rhodes added 16 points for Cave Spring.
Albemarle got 17 points from Kelly McCandlish and 15 from Cindy Frazier.Christy Brownlee sent the game into overtime by sinking three free throws.
