BOWLES, Julian Repass, 64, of Roanoke, slipped the surly bonds of earth, Monday, February 6, 1995. He was a loving kind husband, father, and grandfather. He was preceded in death by a son, Julian Repass Bowles Jr. He leaves behind to mourn his absence his wife of 47 years, Jean Felty Bowles; three sons, James Gary Bowles, Carrollton, Va., Terry Dean Bowles, Martin Dale Bowles, both of Roanoke; devoted daughter, Becky Bowles Layman, and husband, David, Roanoke; four grandchildren, David Jett Layman Jr., Kimberly Dawn Layman, both of Roanoke, Jonathan Brock Bowles, Laura Elizabeth Bowles, both of Norfolk; many friends and family. COLLINS, Katherine Ann McCabe, 82, of Roanoke, passed away Tuesday, February 7, 1995, at a local nursing home. She was preceded in death by her husband, Leonard T. Collins. Surviving are one daughter, Beth Ann Collins; several nieces, nephews and cousins. She began her retail sales career at N. W. Pugh Co. in 1955 and joined Miller & Rhoads when it opened in Roanoke, retiring in 1977. Friends may come to Oakey's Roanoke Chapel between 7 and 9 p.m. Wednesday. HASH, Anna Lue Cordell, 82, of Ferrum, died Monday, February 6, 1995, at Roanoke Memorial Hospital. Born June 30, 1912, she was the daughter of the late Edward and Savannah Morgan Hash. She was the widow of the late Roy Taylor Hash. She attended Ferrum Faith Assembly of God and Maple Grove Methodist Church. Surviving are one daughter and son-in-law, Sue and John White of Scottsville; two grandchildren and one spouse, Timothy Taylor White of Potomac, Md., and J. Stephen and Katie White of Smithsburg, Md.; one great-grandson, John Steven White of Smithsburg, Md.; also several nieces and nephews. HINTY, Pearl Lucille Dale, 70, of Natural Bridge, died Monday, February 6, 1995, at her residence. Born March 27, 1924, in Rockbridge Co., she was the daughter of the late Lee Dale and Mary Susan Smith Dale. Mrs. Hinty was a member of the Broad Creek A.R.P. Church and was the widow of Robert Davis Hinty. She was preceded in death by a sister, Rosa Painter; and brother, Russell Dale. Surviving are three daughters, Juanita H. Talbott, Lexington, Barbara Faye Wilhelm, Lexington, Teresa H. Alexander, Natural Bridge; one son, David W. Hinty, Lexington; one brother, Curtis L. HORTON, Frances R., 81, of Roanoke, died Saturday, February 4, 1995, in a local hospital. She was formerly of Memorial Ave., SW. A member and former school teacher and Youth Director at Belmont United Methodist Church, a graduate of Longwood College and she earned her Masters Degree at University of Virginia. She was a retired school teacher with Roanoke City Schools after 45 years of service. She spent most of her career as a math teacher and before her retirement was the Guidance Counselor at Stonewall Jackson Junior High School and a member of Kappa Delta Gamma. Surviving are two nieces, Mrs. Elizabeth R. Glendening, Indianapolis, Ind., Mrs. Margaret H. Cunningham, Raleigh, N.C.; a nephew, E.J. (Jack) Horton, Mineral Wells, Texas. Funeral services will be at Oakey's Roanoke Chapel, 12 noon Thursday, February 9, 1995, with the Rev. Sam. E. McPhail officiating. Interment will be in Fa ir View Cemetery. JENKINS, Averett Royal, Jr., (``Bill''), 50, of Narrows, died the evening of Monday, February 6, 1995, in the Giles Memorial Hospital, Pearisburg. He was a member of the First United Methodist Church in Narrows, and was predeceased by his father, A. R. Jenkins Sr. in 1988. He is survived by his mother, Mrs. Janet Jenkins (A. R. Jenkins Sr.), Narrows; two sons, Patrick William Jenkins and Michael Lewis Jenkins. Funeral services will be held Thursday at 11 a.m. at the First United Methodist Church in Narrows with the Rev. JOHNSON, William Guy, 88, of Roanoke County, died Tuesday, February 7, 1995, in a local hospital. He was preceded in death by his wife, Laurine Chilton Johnson. Mr. Johnson was a Navy veteran of Wo rld War II and a retired employee of both the American Viscose and Masonry Contractors Inc. of Salem. He was a member of Belmont United Methodist Church. SLUSHER, Lewis Elmer, 68, of Salem, passed away Monday, February 6, 1995 at Lewis-Gale Hospital. He was retired from the United States Navy as a Chief Petty Officer and served on the following ships: SS J. W. Cannon, SS J. R. Randall, SS R. M. Lafollette, USS Oxford, USS Princeton, USS Palau, USS Gilbert Island, USS Valley Forge, and the USS Ranger. He was past president and treasurer of the Fleet Reserve Association. He was preceded in death by his wife, Nell W. Slusher and his parents, William H. and Louise Slusher. Survivors include his wife, Esther B. Slusher, Salem; two daughters, Marie S. McNeill, Mary Lou Moore, both of Salem; one son, Lewis Slusher Jr., Richmond; one stepson, Gary L. Blankenship, Roanoke; four brothers, William H. Slusher Jr., Charles (Bud) Slusher, both of Floyd, Leo Slusher, Franklin, W.
