WALTON'S MUSEUM FEUD SETTLED

Peace and harmony once again reign in Walton country.

Operators of the Walton's Mountain Museum in Schuyler and Earl Hamner Jr., creator of ``The Waltons'' television series, have solved their differences.

``I suspect you'll see positive things happening at the museum,'' said James Hamner, Earl's brother and former chairman of the Schuyler Community Center's board of directors.

James Hamner resigned as chairman at last month's board meeting, saying his family did not like the way Director William Luhrs operated the museum. He also read a letter from his brother, in which Earl Hamner said the family didn't have enough say in the museum's affairs.

Last month's differences now are history, Luhrs said. He shook hands with James Hamner last week on an agreement that will keep him as director and give the family, on which the television series is based, the input it feels it deserves.

The agreement makes Earl Hamner an associate editor of Blue Ridge Chronicles, a quarterly newsletter distributed to museum supporters nationwide.

Also as part of the agreement, the board of directors approved creation of a ``creative advisory board,'' Luhrs said. Earl Hamner will direct the advisory board, which will be responsible for bringing writers' seminars, cast-member visits and other activities to the museum.
