PULASKI COUNTY BOYS UPSET BY E.C. GLASS

Jamar Harden scored his only five points in overtime, including a late field goal to put E.C. Glass in front for good as the Hilltoppers downed Pulaski County 56-52 on Friday night in a boys' non-district game.

Harden hit a shot, was fouled and made the free throw to tie the score in overtime. His final two points put E.C. Glass (9-8) ahead to stay, and Andre Kendrick hit two free throws to seal it for the Hilltoppers.

Kendrick finished with a game-high 19 points, including eight in the fourth quarter and overtime. George Bunch added 14 points and Bryan Jones had 12.

Pulaski County (14-3) had a chance to win in regulation, but the Cougars' final shot was blocked. Pulaski County was led by Eric Webb, who scored 15 points, but only two in the final quarter and overtime. Tyrone Hash added 12 - 10 in the first half - and Jamar McNair had 11 for the Cougars.

PEARISBURG - Aaron Myers scored 22 points to go with 12 rebounds and his twin brother, Anthony, added nine assists in the Spartans' victory over the Shawnees in the Three Rivers District.

John King added 17 points for the Spartans.

Marion 58

Carroll County 54

HILLSVILLE - Anthony Kinzer scored five of his game-high 23 points to end regulation, then the Scarlet Hurricane hit half of its free throws in overtime to defeat the Cavaliers in a non-district matchup.

Marion (9-9) trailed 46-41 before Kinzer hit two baskets and a free throw for the last five points of the fourth quarter and a tie at 46. Carroll County (4-15) then had to foul after falling behind 54-46 in overtime.

Marion made only eight of 16 free throws in the extra period, but that was enough to win.

Matt Larrowe's 16 points led the Cavaliers.

Bland 64

Galax 47

GALAX - The Rockets led by seven points at halftime and pulled away in the third quarter as Bland rolled to a Mountain Empire District victory over the Maroon Tide.

Galax remains winless in the Mountain Empire District with the loss.

Rocky Gap 66

Narrows 63

The score was tied at the end of each of the first three quarters, but Blessing and Bradshaw put Rocky Gap (11-6, 5-2) ahead to stay in the second meeting in as many nights for the two teams. Narrows beat the Eagles 79-64 on Thursday.

AMHERST - Richard Apperson foiled Timesland's top-ranked boys' team, hitting four free throws in the final 30 seconds to give Amherst County a 57-54 victory over Liberty in the Seminole District.

The Minutemen, ranked third among the state's Group AA teams, sent Apperson to the line twice in the final 30 seconds and he was perfect on four tries as the Lancers kept Liberty from clinching the district title.

The loss ended the Minutemen's 16-game winning streak. Liberty, which defeated Amherst 65-63 in January, hadn't lost since its opener at Brookville.

The Minutemen (16-2 overall and district) have cinched at least a tie for the regular-season crown in the Seminole. Stephan Shrader was the only double-figure scorer for Liberty, with 17 points.

Apperson's 19 points paced Amherst (14-4, 14-4), which is second in the district standings.
