CATHOLIC FALLS TO FLOYD

Four players scored in double figures as Floyd County rolled past Roanoke Catholic 66-54 on Saturday night in a non-district boys' game.

Ben Kiser had 12 points and eight rebounds; Brian Harman 12 points, four steals and four steals; Jason Dalton 10 points and eight rebounds; and Jamie Warren 10 points for the Buffaloes.

Catholic (8-14) was led by Tony Joyce with 16 points and Alex Dixon with 15.

Patrick Henry hung tough with the Knights for one quarter, but Cave Spring would not be denied on Senior Night and went on to blow out the visiting Patriots in a Roanoke Valley District game.

Aimee Beightol led Cave Spring by scoring a game-high 18 points, including 10 in the first half. The Knights (15-4, 9-2) led by only two points after one quarter, but scored 22 in the second quarter and held Patrick Henry without a point in the period.

Patrick Henry (0-19, 0-10) was led by Renea Hill, who scored seven.

Gina Guthrie scored 15 points and Rebecca Bryant added 10 to lead the Eagles past the Gaels in a Blue Ridge Conference game.

Guthrie and Bryant each hit two free throws in the closing seconds to preserve the victory for Roanoke Valley Christian (13-6, 6-4).

Michelle Miller scored 16 points to lead Holy Cross (9-8, 5-5), which will visit Roanoke again Tuesday night to face the Eagles in the first round of the conference tournament.
