Barter Theatre will hold general auditions Feb. 24-25 from 10 a.m. to 5 p.m. at Barter Stage II in Abingdon.
Auditions by appointment only. Candidates must be available for daytime and evening performances and rehearsals.
Auditionees should prepare two two-minute monologues, one classic and one contemporary, one of which should be serious and the other humorous.

Festival director
Hugh Southern has been named Director of the Virginia Festival of American Film in an announcement by Dean Philip Nowlen of the University of Virginia Division of Continuing Education, the Festival's sponsor.
Southern formerly managed the Metropolitan Opera in New York and was deputy chairman of the National Endowment for the Arts in the 1980s.
