LINKOUS KEY AS RADFORD UPSETS AUBURN

Matt Linkous sank two free throws with three seconds left as Radford upset Auburn 49-47 in a Three Rivers District game on Monday night.

Linkous scored 27 points for Radford (7-11 overall, 3-3 Three Rivers) as he went 5-for-6 in 3-point shooting, 9-for-11 from the field and sank all four of his free throws.

The game was close throughout as Radford took a 22-19 halftime lead and trailed by as many as four in the second half. The score was tied at 47 with three seconds to go when Linkous was fouled. After Linkous' free throws, Auburn committed a turnover as time ran out.

Chuck Hubbard scored 11 points for the Bobcats.

Jon Reed scored 18 points for Auburn (11-5, 3-1). Terry Millirons had 16 and Kenny Wojciechowski added 11.

Carroll County 45

BLUEFIELD - David Bailey blocked a last-second shot and grabbed a rebound as time expired to preserve the G-men's victory over the Cavaliers.

The contest was close all the way with neither team taking more a five-point lead. Carroll County got the ball with 15 seconds left and drove for a layup but Bailey blocked the potential game-winning shot.

Bailey led Graham with 13 points.

Matt Larrowe scored 19 points and grabbed seven rebounds for Carroll County.

Rocky Gap 59

INDEPENDENCE - The Blue Devils clinched a share of the Mountain Empire District championship with a victory over the Eagles.

Grayson County trailed 47-45 after three quarters then went on a 14-3 run and outscored Rocky Gap 32-12 in the fourth quarter.

The Blue Devils (15-3, 7-1) were led by 23 points from Bryan Boyer and Wes Self. The pair combined for 22 points in the final period.

Chad Shaffner finished with 16 points for Grayson County, which can win the title outright with a victory at Rocky Gap on Wednesday.

Nathan Blessing led Rocky Gap (11-7, 5-3) with 22 points.
