CHILD PASSENGER SAFETY AWARENESS

The Pulaski County Board of Supervisors has designated this week as Child Passenger Safety Awareness Week, noting that motor vehicle crashes are one of the nation's leading causes of death for children over six months old.

But more than 1,500 lives were saved between 1982 and 1990 by the use of child restraints in vehicles, the resolution says.

However, studies show that one in every four safety seats is seriously misused.
