The Revco drug store at Blacksburg Square on South Main Street was robbed Monday night sometime after 9 p.m. when the store was closed.
Police said a man entered the business, displayed a small handgun, demanded money, then left on foot with an undisclosed amount of cash.
Three employees were in the store's office area when the man approached them, said Capt. Walter Mosby.
"We don't know if somehow he got in the back door or somehow hid in the store," Mosby said.
The robber - who wore a royal blue bandana over his face, was described by the store employees as 5-foot-5 to 5-foot-8, 145 to 160 pounds, with brown hair and dark brown eyes. He was wearing blue jeans, a navy hooded sweat shirt with red and white lettering, and black Nike tennis shoes with white stripes.
Mosby said the Jan. 23 robbery of Domino's Pizza on North Main Street did not appear to be related to the drug store robbery.
"It seems like we're dealing with ... two different people," Mosby said.
In the pizza shop armed robbery, a man entered the store at about 10 p.m., announced a robbery, flashed a small handgun and demanded money. Domino's employees described the suspect as 25 to 35 years old, 5-foot-9 and 180 to 200 pounds with brownish-blond hair.
