UVa officials say they have hired a New York graphic design company to create a new series of logos to represent the school and its athletic teams.
The Cavalier will remain UVa's mascot. But the angry-looking version most likely will be replaced with a "more progressive, more attractive look" on T-shirts, mugs, key chains and other items, said Steven Heon, licensing director for the university's athletic department.
Heon said the ``serious Cavalier'' didn't sell well.
``No one seemed to like it,'' said Garth Ottman, a customer service manager at UVa's Newcomb Hall bookstore, which no longer stocks any merchandise with the likeness.
