RADFORD CITY COUNCIL BUDGET REVIEW SESSION TONIGHT|

As part of its annual budget process, Radford City Council has scheduled the first in a series of budget review sessions tonight at 7:15 in council chambers. During the meeting, council will begin the process of reviewing proposed budget estimates for the 1995-96 fiscal year, which begins July 1.

The current year's budget is approximately $40 million, but additional school spending requests for the new fiscal year total more than $2.2 million, including money to expand both elementary schools. Council will review the school budget at a later budget meeting.

At tonight's meeting, council plans to examine budget issues involving the city manager's departments, including Public Works, Police, Fire, Water and Electric. City Manager Robert Asbury said all of his departments met City Council's half-percent guideline to increase spending over the current year's budget.

A second meeting to gather information to develop next year's budget is set for Feb. 28, 7 p.m. Presentations by constitutional officers, the voter registrar and Electoral Board are among those scheduled to be heard at that time.
