LOA seeks insurance
counseling volunteers
The League of Older Americans Area Agency on Aging's Virginia Insurance Counseling and Advocacy Project is seeking volunteers for its health insurance counseling program.
Volunteers should not be a licensed insurance agent or investment counselor; should want to help older consumers obtain answers to health insurance questions; enjoy complex tasks; and want to learn more about health insurance coverage.
The volunteers are trained to provide answers about Medicaid and Medicare enrollment, insurance claims filing and decisions about Medigap and long-term care insurance. Volunteers answer questions from consumers in person or over the telephone.
The project is sponsored by the Virginia Department for the Aging and the State Corporation Commission Bureau of Insurance in cooperation with multiple agencies and organizations.
Call Shannon Abell or Gerrie LaManna at 345-0451 from 8 a.m. to 4:30 p.m. to enroll.
