THE COLLEGE OF HEALTH SCIENCES has named the following students to its fall semester president's list: Barbara Breister, Amy Brown, Dena Cassese, Wanda C. CorbFin, Patricia Dean, Mary Dowe, Kimberley Furrow, Amy L. Gordon, Karen Haynie, Susan Hughes, Kelly Kindelberger, Anna King, Jennifer A. Meyer, Mary Anna Page, Laura Ramey, Michelle Reynolds and Krista Weddle, all of Roanoke; Patricia Garrison, Kevin Minix and Lisha Osborne, all of Salem; Anne Coppersmith and Linda Greiner, both of Vinton; Craig Bryant, Robert Johnson and Lou Anne Rodgers, all of Buchanan; and Alvin Overstreet, Kevin Reed and Vickie Skiles, all of Troutville.

LEWIS-GALE FOUNDATION has announced the names of students receiving its scholarships for the spring semester. During the foundation's 28-year history, it has awarded scholarships totaling $755,250 to 1,522 health career students.

This year's recipients from Roanoke are Deborah Lynn Bacchus, College of Health Sciences; Rebecca Chrisanne Bayne, Virginia Western Community College; Alice Louise Berry, Virginia Western; Denise Renee Godfrey, Salem School of Nursing; Diane W. Hopkins, Virginia Western; Lorena Melissa Pendleton, Roanoke Memorial Hospitals School of Nursing; Peter Cosmo Sapia, College of Health Sciences; Patrick Philip Tison, Salem School of Nursing; Patricia Ann Baker, Virginia Western; Angeline Jahanna Sims, National Business College; and Angela Michelle Light, Salem School of Nursing.

REBEKAH DAWN FENZEL, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Lawrence L. Fenzel of Roanoke, was named to the dean's list of Pensacola Christian College. Fenzel, a junior nursing major, is a home-schooling graduate who earned her high school degree in 1991.

CARSON-NEWMAN COLLEGE, Jefferson City, Tenn., has announced the names of Roanoke-area students who were named to its fall semester dean's list. Those from Roanoke are: Molly E. Davis, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Blaine Davis; Renee F. Doty, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Ronald Doty; Scott Grisso, son of Mr. and Mrs. Donald Grisso; Rebecca C. Moore, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Moore; and Kristen L. Rossbacher, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Robert Rossbacher.

Kris M. Sweet, son of Mr. and Mrs. Larry Sweet of Salem, also was named to the list.

JONATHAN NORMAN TERRY of Roanoke was named to the fall semester 1994 dean's list of the University of Wyoming.

KRISTI LYNN ALGER, a senior at Patrick Henry High School, is one of several semifinalists in the 54th annual Westinghouse Science Talent Search. As a semifinalist, Alger is eligible to compete for one of 40 scholarships worth $205,000 in the nation's oldest science scholarship competition.

VALERIE A. COFFEY, daughter of Mr. and Mrs. Giles L. Coffey of Roanoke, received the Luella R. Treuhaft Drama Award from Juniata College in Huntingdon, Pa. Coffey is a junior majoring in English and is a graduate of Potomac Senior High School.

DONNA L. BLANKENSHIP of Roanoke and BARRY W. MARTIN of Salem have been named to the late-fall term dean's list at National Business College.

Blankenship is majoring in management/computer applications; and Martin is majoring in management.

TERESA ANNE MILLER of Roanoke has been named to the 1994 fall semester dean's honor roll at Eastern New Mexico University.

TONYA M. ZIMMER, a Lynchburg College senior from Roanoke, has been selected as a UPS Scholar and recipient of a $2,550 scholarship. Zimmer is one of 19 students in Virginia sharing $38,250 in scholarships from the UPS Foundation education endowment fund. Zimmer is a political science major.

JEFFREY L. BRENEMAN, son of John and Lois Breneman of Roanoke County, was named to the dean's list at Cedarville (Ohio) College in Cedarville.

Breneman, a sophomore in mechanical engineering, also earned an $1,800 academic scholarship for the second consecutive year. He is a 1993 graduate of Roanoke Valley Christian Schools.

STEFANIE BARTLEY, a fifth-grader at Herman L. Horn Elementary School, won the school-level competition of the National Geography Bee.

The first runner-up was Kevin Halterman. The other finalists were: Josh Mutter, Erin Ours, Jessica Pritchard, Michael Terrell, Ashley Lugar, Matt Jones, Ashleigh Vulgan and Heather Stevens.

The school-level bee, in which students answered oral questions on geography, was the first round in the seventh annual National Geography Bee, which is sponsored by National Geographic World and Chrysler Corporation.

The school winners, including Bartley, will take a written test, the 100 top scorers in the state will compete April 7.
