WAVE ROLLS BLUE DEVILS IN SEMIFINAL

WYTHEVILLE - Bryan Pruett scored eight of Narrows' 14 fourth-quarter points as the fourth-seeded Green Wave rolled back top-seeded Grayson County 59-56 in a Mountain Empire District Tournament basketball semifinal game at George Wythe High School Thursday.

Narrows advances to play second-seeded Rocky Gap in today's 8 p.m championship.

Pruett led Narrows with 23 points and Scott Vaught added 14.

Grayson County, the regular season champion, still advances into the Region C Tournament, as does the winner of tonight's game.

Chad Shaffner led the Blue Devils with 19 points.

In another Mountain Empire District Tournament game:

Rocky Gap 70, Fort Chiswell 51: Nathan Blessing scored 17 points as the Eagles dropped the Pioneers in a semifinal game.

Brad Shaw added 14 for Rocky Gap.

Jody Burnett paced Fort Chiswell with 15 points.

Piedmont Tournament

Martinsville 69, Bassett 60: Martinsville built a 13-point halftime lead and held off Bassett in a semifinal at the Bengals' gym.

The Bulldogs will play the winner of tonight's semifinal between Laurel Park and Fieldale-Collinsville in the championship 7:30 p.m. Saturday at Bassett.

VIC Tournament

Fishburne Military 71, Roanoke Catholic 58: In Lynchburg, Ryan Blosser scored 25 points to lead Fishburne in a quarterfinal at Lynchburg College.

Eastern Mennonite 72, North Cross 43: Ryan Yoder scored 15 points as the Flames ripped the Raiders in a quarterfinal.

Carlisle 87, Hargrave Military 65: Rod Mitchell poured in 20 points to lead the Chiefs over the Tigers in a quarterfinal.

George Wythe 80, Castlewood 64: Aaron Andrews scored 18 points to lead the Maroonsin the semifinals.
