`JOHN AND JOHN SHOW' CALL-IN DEBUTS ON WFNR

A new NIGHTLY CALL-IN SHOW premieres Wednesday. "The John and John Show" will air 6 p.m. weekdays on WFNR (710 AM). John Hale and John Beamer, familiar to listeners from the "Armchair Quarterback" show Saturday mornings, will take questions and comments from listeners. Topics will vary by the day of the week: Mondays it's racing; Wednesdays, local politics; Tuesdays and Thursdays, sports; and Fridays, the week in review. Listeners may call 382-1887 to add their two cents' worth.

"Armchair Quarterback:" Philadelphia Phillies pitcher Mike Williams, who also played for the Virginia Tech baseball team, is this week's guest, today, 9-10 a.m., on WFNR (710 AM). Host Levi Garrett moderates a panel of pundits that tackles listeners' questions and comments on regional collegiate and professional sports. Listeners can call 382-1887 or *WFNR toll-free from their Blue Ridge Cellular phones.

Virginia Tech Basketball: Today, the Hokies meet South Florida at Cassell Coliseum; air time is 2:30 p.m. Tuesday at 8:30 p.m. Tech meets the University of Virginia. Bill Roth calls the games on the Virginia Tech Sports Network. The "Hokie Hotline" with Virginia Tech basketball coach Bill Foster airs Monday, 7-8 p.m. Virginia Tech Sports Network stations include WNRV (990 AM), WJJJ (1260 AM), WKEX (1430 AM), WRAD (1460 AM), WRIQ (101.7 FM) and WVVV (104.9 FM).

"Let's Talk NASCAR:" Sundays, 11 a.m.-noon, on WFNR (710 AM).

NCAA Basketball: It's another doubleheader Sunday on WFNR (710 AM). Wisconsin visits Purdue at noon, then Duke is at UCLA at 3:30.

Radford University Basketball: Today, 7:10 p.m., the Highlanders face Liberty University. Friday, the Big South Conference tournament begins in Lynchburg and continues through March 5. Fans can catch all the action on WPSK (107.1 FM). Dave Hunziker does the play-by-play.

"On the Bench With Coach Ron Bradley:" Radford University's basketball preview show airs on game days at 9:50 a.m. and 5:50 p.m. on WPSK (107.1 FM).

"Winston Cup Today:" Weekdays, 7:45 a.m. and 5:30 p.m. on WFNR (710 AM), and 6 p.m. on WPSK (107.1 FM). "Winston Cup This Week" is heard Saturdays, 7:30-8 a.m., on WFNR.

"Ned Jarrett's World of Racing:" Weekdays, 9:55 a.m. on WJJJ (1260 AM) and 6:05 p.m., right after "Winston Cup Today," on WPSK (107.1 FM). "Spotlight on Blacksburg," Tuesday, 7 p.m., on WTOB (Channel 2), Blacksburg public-government access television, covers the fourth annual Civil War Weekend at Virginia Tech.
