JAMES RIVER WINS REGION C

James River won the Region C Tournament wrestling title despite winning just two individual championships Saturday at Bath County High School.

Robert Spangler and teammate Michael Broughman led the Knights to the championship with 156 points, 91/2 better than second-place Grayson County. Spangler decisioned Parry McCluer's Jerimiah Brockenbrough 10-1 to win the 130-pound title, and Broughman pinned Brian McDonnell of Grayson County to win the 160-pound championship.

Radford led all Region C teams by capturing five individual titles to come in third place with 140 points. The Bobcats dominated the lighter weight classes as Ryan Hall, Stephen Murphy and Benjy Fry won the 103-, 112-, and 119-pound championships, respectively.

Radford's other winners were Jason Abercrombie in the 145-pound class and Peter Lee at 152.
